Flush and Semi Flush Fixtures

Flush mount light fixtures are perfect for lower ceilings (8’-9’) in hallways, foyers and even bedrooms. They look best in areas that need a great amount of light without a noticeable fixture. The height of the ceiling and the physical dimensions of the room will determine the perfect flush mount light. Flush mount lights are a very important part of any home. Semi-flush fixtures light up your ceiling as well as light up your entire room.

Sizing is generally a measure of proportionality to the size of the room. Remember that the height of the fixture should generally not force it to extend below 6 ½‘.
Width of the fixture is determined by functional need  - (wider = more bulbs = more light output), as well as aesthetics. There is no formula for sizing the width of a flush or semi flush fixture - Use your best judgment. (Most flush and semi-flush fixtures are anywhere from 8”-24” wide).

Semi-Flush fixtures are used in areas which require a fixture which will catch the eye’s attention for impact (entryways, living rooms, or certain bedrooms). They provide more ambient lighting because light is projected through the glass as well as upwards to the ceiling.
