Picture Lights

(Editorial recommended by Cindy M. of NJ - thanks Cindy!)

An easy, traditional way to light up a picture or a painting is the usage of picture lights. Picture lights come in many styles to compliment your client’s décor. Many models are available in several different metal finishes.

Most picture lights get mounted to the wall directly behind the painting, and can be plugged into an outlet using the supplied plug and wire. Some people will complain about the cord being visible hanging beneath the painting, and for that we recommend the usage of cord-covers (sometimes supplied with the fixture) or the installation of a recessed outlet behind the painting. Battery-operated painting lights are available, but not recommended due to their short battery life and small sizes.

To size your picture light :

Measure the width of the painting, and then choose a picture light that is about, but not less than, half the width. This ensures even lighting throughout the painting.

Note: Remember to use only frosted bulbs in picture lights to prevent glare.
